I am a 21 year old web developer from Manchester, living in Preston with my fiancée, and I am currently looking for work. I first used HTML, PHP, and MySQL in 2002 when I became the administrator of an Invision powered Bulletin Board. At this time I started installing modifications to the bulletin board and learning to code PHP.
From there, I went on to make small sites for friend’s with the help of image designers. Splicing images and using HTML I made sites for a my friends rock band, a site for my ICT coursework, a fan site for a video game, and various other small sites.
In college I challenged myself by making an e-commerce site for my computing coursework, where the rest of my class used Microsoft Access to make form based systems. The site used some CSS which was editable via an Admin Control Panel so the style could be changed on the fly by an administrator. The administrator was also able to add and remove items from the catalogue, manage members, and manage orders. The files for this are currently in atlas.zip, but as the security is minimal on the system I do not have it live.
The experience from making this site came in handy the following year, as at the end of my first year of my Computing course at Leeds Metropolitan university we were tasked with making an e-commerce system. For this system I wrote the code for the catalogue and the administrator panel, and helped out on other parts of the system.
I completed the second year of my Computing course at the University of Central Lancashire, and for my professional skills module I coded the PHP for a site called Agile North, and audited the HTML and CSS.
Most recently, I helped the Manchester 500 motorcycle organisation, who required a complete coding overhaul as site had previously been made in a web design package using the design view alone, and so it was impossible for the sites owners to do any updates on it. I updated the site to be up to web standards, using HTML and CSS, as well as integrating their wordpress blog into the site.
